Background

The eighty-fourth session of the UNECE Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management will take place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva from 4 to 6 October 2023.

The eighty-fourth session of the Committee will support regional exchange of experiences and good practices on promoting affordable, adequate and climate-neutral housing and inclusive, circular, smart and sustainable cities. The Committee session will also review the implementation of the “Place and Life in the ECE – A Regional Action Plan 2030” endorsed by the Committee at its eighty-second session, and the San Marino Declaration adopted by the Committee at its eighty-third session.

Agenda

During the Update on technical cooperation activities : UN4UkrainianCities projectCities’ master plans and pilot projects session, experts involved in all aspects of the project spoke about housing policy and cadastre, cities’ master plans and pilot projects, promoting investments in urban infrastructure and housing at city level, capacity-building activities planning, and other projects for urban development in Ukraine.

Participation

Notable speakers included Alberto Cendoya and Diego Lopez Urruchi, Architects from the Design and Technology Unit of the Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid, Spain; Olga Demianenko, Senior urban economy expert at UNECE; Ana Paez, Programme Manager at One Works in Milan, Italy; and Yevhen Poliakov, Chief Architect at the City of Mykolaiv, Ukraine.
